Whether a little chick or a full grown chicken. Your animal needs your help

Chickens carry fleas, mites, lice and other bugs that are different from the ones humans often get. These chicken fleas, chicken mites, and other bugs make life for your chicken very uncomfortable and can cause changes to the food you count on them for.
Flea bites are uncomfortable for your chicken, plus they can also cause anemia, dermatitis and tapeworms. If your chicken has fleas, you should administer treatment right away.
Ticks can cause inflammation, infections or Lyme disease. This means you have to be extra careful when choosing a product to use on your animal.
Also many mites, fleas, and other pests have grown immune to many of the chemicals in use today because of being exposed to them so very often.
If your poultry has been affected by these bugs, you will see some signs. Usually, the chickens will start scratching a lot and they become restless. The skin will also start changing and it becomes scaly and scabby, when you look at it closely, you will also notice some discoloration. The feathers will also be affected in that they become ragged. You can check your chicken coops for chicken mites. In most cases, they will hide in crevices, cracks and in the protected areas during the day. They usually do not spending time out in the light of day, so they will hide in dark cool places. However, they will crawl out at night when your chickens are sleeping and start feeding on them. Chicken mites survive by drinking blood. As an indication that the mites have infected the chickens, they become pale and droopy. They will also stop laying eggs.
To prevent this from spreading, it is important to make sure that you spray the coop on a regular basis with pesticides (natural or otherwise). Be very careful of how you choose and handle pesticides, most of them are harmful to human health, and to the chickens you are trying to protect!
